Glass, as a brittle material, is sensitive to external mechanical or thermical impacts. Therefore, the safety aspect schould be paid the attention required, with the following two factors being of great importance:

Passive safety, i.e. protection against injuries caused by glass splinters, etc., and active safety, i.e. protection against throw, burglary, escape or breakage. Whilst the level of protection can be very comprehensive, it is never absolute; therefore, this is referred to as "inhibition of injuries, throw, penetration", etc.
