SILVESTAR basic glasses with thermal insulation coating improve thermal insulation by reducing the UV values.
The effect of the coating is to reduce extremely the translucency of the float glass to long-wave infrared radiation and to return it to the interior by reflection. Since these glasses are strongly reflecting or weakly emitting in the heat radiation spectrum (long-wave IR spectrum), they are generally also designed as Low-E (low emissivity = low thermal dissipation).
At the same time, they allow the short-wave thermal radiation of the sun to pass through, so that the passive use of the solar energy is retained. The energy losses of insulating glass can be reduced by about 70 % with the use of SILVERSTAR thermal insulation glass.
